THE SAF VETERANS LEAGUE
THE SAF VETERANS LEAGUE (SAFVL) was formed in 1990 to cater to all retired Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) personnel and volunteers.
SAFVL is basically autonomous in conducting its own activities and events for its more than 500 members who were formerly from the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Singapore Armed Forces.
The League promotes the interest and welfare of its members through activities and regular get-together sessions. And it is through such regular meetings that the SAFVL provides a common venue for members to meet for the purpose of promoting greater cohesion and interaction among its members and to look out for each other.
Another objective of the League is to provide an avenue for its members to maintain links and partnership with the SAF.
The SAFVL is a branch under the SAF Reservist Association (SAFRA). Through this link, SAFVL members are also associate members of SAFRA.
Membership to SAFVL is voluntary. To be eligible to be a member of the SAFVL, a person must have served at least six continuous years in the Singapore Armed Forces and, for males, they must have also completed National Services liabilities and be at least forty years of age.
The SAFVL participates in a wide range of activities to contribute to National Education. SAFVL veterans lead our younger generation at commemorative ceremonies to remind them of the fragility of peace and never to take the prosperity and progress they enjoy today for granted.
SAFVL veteran members also volunteer themselves as Commitment-to-Defence (or C2D) Ambassadors to share their operational and real-life experiences with school students and servicemen in the various SAF training institutes.
