VECONAC confers Honorary President title on Lao Veterans Federation’s BG (Retired) Somphon Keomixay, and Medal of Honour on LCOL (Retired) Khamsing Sosenginh
At the 20th General Assembly hosted virtually by Vietnam on 15 December 2021, the Veterans Confederation of ASEAN Countries (VECONAC), conferred the title of Honorary President on BG (Retired) Somphon Keomixay from the Lao Veterans Federation.
General Keomixay was VECONAC President and President of the Lao Veterans Federation when Laos was VECONAC Chair in 2018.
LT-COL (Retired) Khamsing Sosenginh, then VECONAC Secretary-General, was awarded the VECONAC Medal of Honour.
The citations highlighted their dedication and contributions to the success of the 31st EBM and the 18th GA in 2018.
The awards to General Somphon Keomixay and LT-COL (Retired) Khamsing Sosenginh, were presented by Senior Lieutenant General (Ret) Nguyen Van Duoc, then VECONAC President. They were received on their behalf by COL Vongxay Inthakham, Laos’ Military Attache in Vietnam.
Vietnam was VECONAC Chair in 2020 and 2021, holding the presidency for an additional year in 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
